About
Kemerovo State University was founded in 1974. The University has gone through several stages of its development from a small provincial Pedagogical College to one of the largest universities in Siberia. KemSU has always been the largest HEI in Kuzbass, and in 2017 it earned the title of flagship university of Kemerovo region. In 2018, KemSU ranked among the TOP-10 flagship universities of Russia. In the independent ratings developed by both Russian and international organizations, KemSU traditionally ranks among the TOP-100 most popular Russian universities. KemSU possesses modern research and educational laboratories and has over 20 research schools. KemSU organizes internships and facilitates job placement at the leading companies and enterprises in Russia and abroad. KemSU has the experience of training students from all over the world: within degree programs, exchange programs, courses of Russian as foreign languages and at the preparatory faculty for international applicants.
KemSU students and staff do their best to help international students get acquainted with Russia and Siberia, to master the Russian language, to learn more about Russian history and culture and to succeed in their studies. In summer, the Summer School is held for the international applicants to adapt to studies and to get acquainted before the beginning of the school year.Student’s life and accomodation-
KemSU has 7 student residence buildings with a total of 4,507 beds. Different buildings have different facilities. Student residence buildings 1, 2 and 3 are located in the Central cluster of KemSU’s campus, next to Sovetov square, while buildings 4, 5 and 6 are located in the Eastern Cluster of the campus, not far from Stroiteley Boulevard. Student residence building 7 is located in Miranya Street and accommodates the students of the Faculty of Vocational Education and Training.
KemSU’s academic buildings also have canteens and cafes where breakfast and lunch are served. The menu includes salads, soups, mains (chicken, meat and fish), numerous side dishes, drinks and desserts. All the dishes can be packed for take-away as well.
